SynPlan was founded with a single purpose: to give the healthcare sector better tools for smarter staffing. We saw firsthand how absenteeism, manual processes, and rigid shift structures negatively affected both staff and patients. So we spent years developing a solution that combines artificial intelligence, human insight, and real-world usability.

SynPlan was born from a clear mission: to help healthcare leaders spend less time juggling shift schedules and more time leading.
 The idea originated in 2019, when Trondheim Municipality approached NTNU with an urgent need for smarter workforce planning. Hai Nguyen, then working with AI at NTNU, accepted the challenge. What began as a research-driven collaboration quickly evolved into a powerful solution, shaped closely by the people who use it.

Hai Nguyen
Founder & CTO

Hai Nguyen is the founder of SynPlan. He has more than 12 years of experience in building AI & ML products, services. Hai has worked in Telenor ASA for more than 6 years where he leads several AI/ML projects on cyber security, fraud detection, recommendation systems and IoTs for Telenor. He was also an Associate Professor in AI/ML at NTNU.

Lars Dahle

Lars Dahle is a digital health pioneer and seasoned healthtech executive, best known for founding and scaling Dignio into a leading international player. With over a decade of experience, he has built strong local teams and strategic partnerships across borders. Lars also serves on the Board of Directors at SINTEF, one of Europe’s largest independent research organizations.

Inger is an experienced leader in municipal administration and healthcare services, with a background as a nurse and further education in leadership and service development. She has led major restructuring and digital transformation projects in the health sector, combining strategic insight with practical execution skills.

Marianne Strøm-Wilhelmssen
Senior Consultant | KAM

Marianne has extensive experience from public health services, as a nurse in both primary care and hospital settings. She also held a position at a primary care HR-department. She has been in a consulting role for several years, where she has focused on municipalities that want to optimize work plans, secure finances and transition to a more efficient use of resources using.

Martin Illum
SW-Developer

Martin is a developer at SynPlan, contributing to the development of AI-driven workforce planning solutions for the healthcare sector. He combines a strong foundation in programming with a keen interest in health technology, supporting the creation of tools that enhance efficiency and well-being in healthcare services.

Werner Christie
Chairman & Former Minister of Health

Dr. Werner Christie was Norway’s first Minister of Health, serving in Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland’s Cabinet (1992–1996). A medical doctor with a background in social science, he has chaired both the Norwegian Biotechnology Advisory Board and WHO’s Stop TB initiative. Werner is also a strategic advisor and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at BI Norwegian Business School.

Darko has a broad expertise in workforce planning, organizational development, and digital transformation. He has led initiatives in change management, shift models, full-time culture, and sick leave follow-up, with a strong focus on improving efficiency and resource use in healthcare services.

Jovana Pavić
Product Designer

Jovana Pavić is passionate about designing healthcare tools that actually work for the people who use them. With a background in data visualization, UI, and usability testing, she transforms complex needs into intuitive, effective user experiences. At SynPlan, she ensures that the solution balances business goals with real-world usability, so healthcare leaders and staff get tools that reduce stress, not add to it.
